How Human Design Changed My Life

Are you feeling stuck, uninspired or like you’re living a life that doesn’t truly belong to you? I know that feeling well. For years, I followed the path I thought I was supposed to, until I discovered Human Design. It wasn’t just another self-discovery tool - it was a complete shift in how I understood myself and the world around me. It gave me the permission slip I didn’t even realise I needed - to step away from what wasn’t true to me and embrace what was.

Recognising Misalignment & Taking Ownership

Understanding my Human Design allowed me to see why the full-time corporate grind had always felt draining. It wasn’t that my job or workplace was wrong - in fact, it was exactly what I spent my entire career wishing for and working towards. It was simply that the way I was approaching work wasn’t sustainable for me. I had spent years trying to fit into a mould that didn’t align with my natural energy. Once I recognised this, I began making shifts towards a more fluid and multifaceted career - one where I could honour my energy cycles, creativity and need for variety. This is actually the key to satisfaction for my energy type as a Manifesting Generator!

So now, I get to share my energy across a new integrated wellbeing sequence that I co-created with a best friend, as well as yoga teaching, wellbeing workshops, human design readings, and a part-time brand marketing job for an incredible Pilates business. I feel energised, in-purpose and the synchronicities that continue to emerge will never cease to amaze me!

Human Design also helped me gain clarity in my relationships. I realised that some connections, while so special and supportive in their time, were no longer in alignment with who I was becoming. As I recognised and honoured my changing needs, I surrendered, let go and created space for connections to come. First and foremost was the deeper connection I was developing with myself, as well as new people entering my life who felt supportive, expansive and in harmony.

Deconditioning & Returning Home

Another major part of our journey in this lifetime is deconditioning - the process of unlearning societal expectations, external pressures and patterns that aren’t truly our own. Human Design teaches us that from the moment we are born, we are influenced by the world around us - family, culture, education, relationships, career, etc. Over time, we take on beliefs and ways of operating that may not be aligned with who we truly are. Deconditioning is about peeling back those layers and returning to what feels natural and true.

This became particularly relevant for me when it came to where I lived, with the open G centre in my design (your centre for love, direction and identity). I moved from Melbourne to Sydney, Sydney to Melbourne, Melbourne to London, and then eventually back from London to Sydney (via Melbourne) - with many thoughts to explore New York, Portugal and Spain along the way! I felt extremely lost - and tried to find the feeling of home across the 17 homes I lived in, throughout a 14 year period. A good chunk of these moves were during my saturn return - which is a whole other blog post in itself… But long story short, I didn’t realise how much external expectations and conditioning had influenced my choices. I felt the need to prove something to myself - to push beyond my comfort zone in ways that, in hindsight, weren’t always aligned with my energy. My mind was running the show - but now I know that I need to make decisions using my emotional authority according to Human Design. So I see what feels true over time - beyond the highs and lows that I experience with this design.

So now, returning to Sydney - a place that consistently felt like home - I feel a deep sense of personal reclamation. I had to work through old narratives, fears and limiting beliefs that once made me feel like I had to leave in the first place. Now, being back, I see this home with new eyes - as the place where I feel most grounded, energised and at peace. Deconditioning allowed me to release the pressure of what I thought I ‘should’ be doing and instead, trust where I feel most at home, for now. And now is just one small window in time, so I continue to allow my perspectives to develop and evolve - particularly as I consider the reality of being away from family, friends and people who feel like home.

A New Approach to Wellbeing

Perhaps the most unexpected shift from Human Design came in my health. For years, I had struggled with gut issues, back pain, anxiety, an eating disorder and tinnitus. While Human Design is by no means a cure for these challenges, it helped me understand some of the deeper patterns contributing to them.

I began to see how external pressures and misalignment had been creating stress in my body. Pushing myself to meet expectations that weren’t aligned with my design had left me feeling constantly depleted. When I started making choices that truly felt right for me - letting go of what wasn’t authentic and embracing what was - I noticed significant changes. My anxiety lessened, my digestion improved and I felt more at home in my body. Simply put, when you stop forcing yourself to be someone you’re not, your entire system relaxes. This is an ongoing journey for me - and my key to maintaining good mental health is a calm nervous system - putting my body in places, spaces, relationships and dynamics that feel supportive!

I also gained insight into how my environment impacts my wellbeing. According to Human Design, certain environments support us more than others. For me, understanding this meant making small but powerful changes - choosing spaces that felt more natural, allowing myself to be where I felt at ease and shifting my routines in a way that supported my nervous system.

My Progression into Human Design Reading

They say it takes 7 years of living by your Human Design blueprint to decondition and transform your life - and here I am just 4 years down, with 3 exciting years to come. The good news is, every day has been better since I discovered this system. And that’s why I became a certified reader - to share it far and wide - to support others on their journey.

If you’re new to Human Design, a group workshop or 1:1 reading is a powerful place to start. Using your birth data (time, date and place), we can uncover your life-long energetic blueprint: how you’re designed to use your energy, make decisions and move through life with more ease. Some key aspects explored in a reading include:

  • Your Energy Type - How you are meant to engage with the world and use your energy effectively.

  • Your Strategy & Authority - The best way for you to make decisions that align with your truth.

  • Your Profile - Your innate role in life and how you naturally interact with others.

  • Your Defined & Undefined Centres - Where you have consistent energy and where you may be more open to conditioning from the world around you.

  • Your Ideal Environment - The spaces that allow you to thrive energetically.

  • And so much more!

A reading is not about telling you who you are - it’s about guiding you back to what you already know deep down. It’s an opportunity to reconnect with yourself in a way that feels both affirming and empowering.

The Power of Living in Alignment

Human Design isn’t about changing who you are - it’s about returning to yourself so you can make choices that truly serve you. When you align with your design, life flows with more ease and magnetism. You stop forcing, start allowing and watch as opportunities, relationships and wellbeing shift in your favour.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that alignment isn’t about perfection - it’s about awareness. That’s why they call it the ‘Human Design experiment’ - because you become your own proof as you start living by your blueprint! There are still moments where I catch myself slipping into old patterns, but the difference now is that I have the tools to recognise it and course-correct. I’ve come to trust that when something doesn’t feel right, there’s a reason - and that reason isn’t something to ignore.

If you’ve ever felt out of sync with life, Human Design might just be the missing piece. It was for me - and I would love to guide you on your own journey back to yourself. If my journey resonates with you, I hope you feel empowered to trust your intuition in this moment, and connect in the way that feels most supportive:

Big love and be well,

Anna x
